Helpful information for comparing the breed and deciding whether a Maltipoo fits your household.
What is a Maltipoo?
A Maltipoo is a companion cross between a Maltese and a Poodle. The Poodle parent may be Toy or Miniature, which is one reason Maltipoos can vary in adult size, coat texture, and energy level. They are generally known for being affectionate, people-oriented, and smart.
Do Maltipoos shed?
Most Maltipoos shed less than many double-coated breeds, but shedding varies from dog to dog. A low-shedding coat still needs regular brushing because loose hair can stay trapped in the curls and form mats.
What is the difference between Teacup, Toy, and Mini Maltipoos?
Those labels are commonly used to describe smaller size ranges, but they are not official Maltipoo breed divisions. Breeders may use the words differently. Ask about the puppy’s current weight, age, parents, and expected growth instead of choosing by the label alone.
Do Maltipoos bark a lot?
They can be alert and vocal, especially when they hear unfamiliar sounds, feel bored, or become anxious. Calm socialization, enough activity, and consistent positive training from puppyhood can help keep alert barking from becoming an everyday habit.
Can a Maltipoo be left alone during the day?
Maltipoos tend to bond closely with their people and some can struggle with long periods alone. Start with very short, calm separations and build gradually. A household where the puppy is left alone for most of every day may need a realistic plan for breaks, enrichment, and companionship.
Are Maltipoos hypoallergenic?
No dog is truly hypoallergenic. Maltipoos are usually low-shedding and may be easier for some allergy-sensitive households, but they still produce allergens through dander, saliva, and urine. If allergies are a serious concern, spend time with the breed before committing.
How big do Maltipoos get?
Size varies with genetics, especially whether the Poodle parent is Toy or Miniature. Many adult Maltipoos fall around 5–20 pounds, but an individual puppy may finish outside a simple marketing size label. We prefer to discuss the puppy in front of us rather than promise an exact adult weight.
How long do Maltipoos live?
Maltipoos are small dogs and often have a long lifespan. Current veterinary breed guidance commonly places them around the low-to-mid teens, with individual lifespan affected by genetics, nutrition, dental care, exercise, and routine veterinary care.
Are Maltipoos easy to train and potty train?
Maltipoos are intelligent and usually respond well to short, positive training sessions. Potty training still takes repetition: take the puppy out on a predictable schedule, reward success immediately, supervise closely indoors, and expect a few accidents while the routine becomes familiar.
Are Maltipoos good with children and other pets?
They can be wonderful family companions when properly socialized. Because a small puppy can be injured accidentally, interactions with young children should be supervised. Introduce resident dogs and cats slowly and give every animal space to settle in.
Care, Training & Everyday Life
The practical questions that come up once you start picturing a Maltipoo in your home.
How much exercise does a Maltipoo need?
Most enjoy a daily walk plus play and short training games. They do not need marathon exercise, but they do need movement and mental stimulation. For young puppies, keep activity age-appropriate and let your veterinarian guide you on safe exercise while bones and joints are developing.
What should I feed my Maltipoo puppy?
Use a complete, high-quality puppy food appropriate for a small dog and keep the puppy on a consistent routine when first coming home. Sudden food changes can upset a young puppy’s stomach, so transition gradually and ask your veterinarian to confirm the amount and feeding frequency for your puppy’s size and body condition.
When can my puppy go on walks and meet other dogs?
Socialization should begin early, but disease exposure needs to be managed carefully. Your veterinarian can advise what is appropriate locally while vaccinations are in progress. Safe socialization can include calm visitors, household sounds, handling, car rides, different surfaces, and carefully controlled puppy classes.
How often should I groom a Maltipoo?
Brush frequently—daily for coats that mat easily—and get your puppy comfortable with handling from the start. Many Maltipoos are professionally groomed every four to eight weeks. Regular nail trims, ear checks, and tooth brushing are just as important as the haircut.
When should I take my new puppy to the veterinarian?
Our original adoption terms ask families to arrange a licensed-veterinarian examination within 48 hours of receiving the puppy. Bring the health and vaccination records with you so your veterinarian can review what has already been given and plan the next steps.
Adoption, Delivery & Health Guarantee
Questions specific to bringing home a puppy from Souls Maltipoo Puppies.
What is included with a Souls Maltipoo puppy?
Our original program describes age-appropriate vaccination and deworming records, a veterinary health examination/certificate, a 1-year genetic health guarantee, and breeder support. Exact inclusions can vary, so the puppy’s written adoption paperwork is the final reference for what goes home with that puppy.
Do you deliver outside California?
Our original adoption information includes professional delivery options for families who cannot collect in person. Delivery is arranged individually because the puppy’s age, destination, route, weather, and travel method all matter.
What does your health guarantee cover?
Souls Maltipoo Puppies’ original program includes a 1-year genetic health guarantee. The signed agreement controls the exact terms, including covered hereditary conditions, owner responsibilities, exclusions, veterinary documentation, and how a claim is reviewed. Please read the full Health Guarantee page and your written agreement before adoption.
How much does a Maltipoo puppy cost?
Price can vary by puppy and should never be the only thing you compare. Check the current puppy listing or ask us directly for the price and what is included. We confirm the puppy, price, deposit, and any delivery cost before a reservation is completed.
How do I reserve a puppy?
Choose a puppy you are genuinely interested in, send an application or enquiry, and give us a little information about your home and routine. Once we have answered each other’s questions and confirmed the match, we will provide the reservation and deposit details in writing.
Browse the puppies first, then send us your questions. We would rather help you make a comfortable decision than rush the process.
